1800-Flowers why do I have to search for stuff

January 26th, 2010 by Bart Mroz

I was using 1800 Flowers to send some flowers out. The delivery was going to a business address. I fill in the form, submit, and than I get an error: Fill in your business name. Now there is no spot for the address anywhere.

After few min I just in to the Chat with someone from the company. Now the person helping me was very nice and I was told to change the delivery from business to residential than back again. Hey look at the the address shows up.

That is just bad experience. That is all.

Better way of delivering transactional email with Postmark and Magento

January 6th, 2010 by Bart Mroz

Email delivery for web apps.

From the makers of Newsberry, Postmark helps deliver and track transactional emails for web applications. Don’t worry about setup, scaling and server maintenance, we already excel at this. Read more on our blog.

We are very exited to release this plugin. We have been looking at transactional email and the importance of making sure that that email gets delivered. You know – those fun emails that notify you that you did buy something and that the product did ship so you can stay home from work and wait for the UPS guy to show up.
So our friends at Wildbit have been working on a better way to deliver transactional emails. They are calling it Postmark.

Update – Etsy and Magento

December 1st, 2009 by Bob Brodie

We are making great progress on the Etsy module for Magento. As of today, the Etsy module now creates a category in Magento named Etsy and assigns all products to that category with a Magento SKU that matches the Etsy listing_id. We are looking to release toward the end of the week. The next steps for us are:

  • Mimic the Etsy category tree in Magento
  • Assign images to the Magento product
  • Create a workflow that will allow user to select which product to sync and also allow inventory updates

If anyone has any suggestions, please send them our way.

After eating all the turkey and stuffing we figured might as well do some more work on the Etsy plugin for Magento.

Right now when you install, it creates a table called etsy with 8 fields:

etsy_id

title

image_url

listing_id

price

quantity

created_time

update time

At the moment, the following is functional:

Creates an Etsy section in the admin->config to store username in the database

Creates an Etsy section in the admin with a grid to show currently downloaded products

Stores all downloaded products in the database

Here is a screen shot inside of magento.

Etsy in Magento

Etsy and Magento

November 26th, 2009 by Bob Brodie

When it comes to eCommerce, Etsy fits a certain niche. Hand crafted items will always be in demand and Etsy has helped crafty people fill that demand since 2005. What if you want to take that next step though? You like Etsy, but you want to run your own online store in addition to it. Round3Media is working on a solution for you. Right now, Magento is the most powerful and feature rich of open-source if not all eCommerce package available. Magento can handle difficult configurations of items, promotions, and marketing. By using Magento, your search engine results will also have the possibility to increase your search engine rankings.

Still in early development, our Etsy to Magento integration will allow you to:

  • Select which products to import  from Etsy to Magento
  • Pull down your Etsy images, descriptions, inventory levels, and prices into Magento
  • When an item sells in Magento, report that reduction in inventory to Etsy
  • Monitor your Etsy items to refresh inventory levels in Magento

This will be our first contribution to the Magento community, and there will be more to come.

New Site and New Mission

November 23rd, 2009 by Bart Mroz

Finally a new site. Some things are still being worked on. Sorry if things are missing. Loving your clients sometimes prevents you from making your own site look good. So we decided it was time to paint the shop. So here it is.

Our new mission. Ah yes. Well the site shows it. It’s all about eCommerce. Why? Well we think that eCommerce has its own category. So we decided to take that category on.

We will do some other projects but will be very picky about them
