Better way of delivering transactional email with Postmark and Magento

Wednesday, January 6th, 2010

Email delivery for web apps.

From the makers of Newsberry, Postmark helps deliver and track transactional emails for web applications. Don’t worry about setup, scaling and server maintenance, we already excel at this. Read more on our blog.

We are very exited to release this plugin. We have been looking at transactional email and the importance of making sure that that email gets delivered. You know – those fun emails that notify you that you did buy something and that the product did ship so you can stay home from work and wait for the UPS guy to show up.
So our friends at Wildbit have been working on a better way to deliver transactional emails. They are calling it Postmark.

Update – Etsy and Magento

Tuesday, December 1st, 2009

We are making great progress on the Etsy module for Magento. As of today, the Etsy module now creates a category in Magento named Etsy and assigns all products to that category with a Magento SKU that matches the Etsy listing_id. We are looking to release toward the end of the week. The next steps for us are:

  • Mimic the Etsy category tree in Magento
  • Assign images to the Magento product
  • Create a workflow that will allow user to select which product to sync and also allow inventory updates

If anyone has any suggestions, please send them our way.

After eating all the turkey and stuffing we figured might as well do some more work on the Etsy plugin for Magento.

Right now when you install, it creates a table called etsy with 8 fields:

etsy_id

title

image_url

listing_id

price

quantity

created_time

update time

At the moment, the following is functional:

Creates an Etsy section in the admin->config to store username in the database

Creates an Etsy section in the admin with a grid to show currently downloaded products

Stores all downloaded products in the database

Here is a screen shot inside of magento.
